Skunk Trapping: How To Trap a Skunk (discuss trap types, bait, methods, etc)

How to trap a skunk?
The most effective Daphne animal control way of catching and removing the skunk is by trapping it. Use only traps that won´t hurt the little creatures during its capturing and later on transporting to a friendlier environment. Skunks need to be removed as humane as possible.

Type of traps
The traps that don´t use any chemical pesticides to harm your children or pets, while capturing skunks are the solution you are looking for. The best one to use is a live trap, designed and made of solid construction and material. The trap should measure about 18-25 cm in width and at least 76 cm long and preferably has only one entrance. Internal edges should be smooth and solid doors should keep animals secure with very little possibilities for injury, if they try to escape. Daphne pest control Cage traps have two types of doors; gravity doors and spring-loaded doors. Different techniques are used to open doors. The other type of traps, not even worth mentioning is foothold and body-gripping traps. These traps kill or injure animals severely. They aren´t advised for catching skunks, especially in the vicinity of your home. When you catch the skunk it will most likely spray and furthermore these torturing gadgets can also catch your pet or even worse hurt a child.

Bait
As skunks are omnivores, they can be easily caught live traps. You can bait nearly any kind of food in a trap but most effective are Daphne wildlife removal meat baits. Put sardines or cat food in the trap and there is a very high possibility to catch the skunk. After placing the bait check the trap frequently and be careful not to catch a cat.

Method of trapping the skunk
First of all, timing is very important. The Daphne animal trapping trap should be baited and closed before the sun sets. In the morning it has to be reset again as skunks are nocturnal animals, with no desire walking around during daylight. While setting the trap spring should be loaded and cage trap covered with blanket or something similar as the skunk gets disoriented, if it’s unable to see. Then inspect carefully where you are going to put the trap. As skunks can climb it` s preferable to set the trap on a large wooden platform approx. 18 inches off the ground with some additional inches of wood in front of the door. If you succeed and trap the skunk you need to plan the release. Put covered Daphne exterminator trap in the back of your truck or in the trunk of your car and drive it at least 10 km away from its current habitat. Skunk sometimes doesn`t want to leave the trap. In that case just offer him a little more bait. Patiently wait until it decides to run away.
